Finally, 2 days after my birthday, so I'll be enjoying that.

Woot :o

EDIT:

It will also be 2 days before monkeyman has updated the news front page since last year.

English trailer on gametrailers.com

They changed hits to destroyed, Commander is now Boss, and the background during the stage 2 boss seems to be at night instead of day.

Image

I wonder if there are any actual gameplay tweaks.

And what the hell flash player does gametrailers use? Videos run like shit on my computer, even the low resolution ones. They run fine if I download them.

The press release says 'international online leaderboards', so probably not.

I was (unrealistically) hoping they would change a few things.

I think it's one of Treasure's best games.

This just seems cruel though. ZTF's normal Isa scores are insane. Stage 0 alone baffles me. I know I miss about 500,000 points by not taking out all the boxes above the boss on the first set of bombs, but I have no idea where another million points could possibly come from.

Here's some giant artwork.

http://www.mrmonkeyman.com/sin2artwork.rar

That's a resized sample, and is also the artwork on the Japanese manual. The images are all ridiculous resolutions inside the rar file. Some are old.

Oh, and word is the European release is set for May 7th. That's a Friday, is that a normal release day for Europe?

Star Successor? The North American version is obviously inferior. I'm not buying it.

On a more serious note, this game looks so much more awesome since the first trailers we got for some reason. I wouldn't be too surprised if the game does alright in terms of sales. Perhaps Nintendo will even step it up and do some actual advertising. They obviously wanted this game on the Wii.

Not bad. Box art is rarely impressive, but yeah, this is pretty decent. Thanks for posting.

Okay, it's awesome.

Hey, thanks for all of the artwork. Suzuki is still one of my favorite artists.

How is the music? Does it compare to the first soundtrack? Is there an OST or has anyone ripped one? Am I bothering you with all of these questions? Finally, do you like cupcakes?

The music isn't much like the original. It's all NON this time. I uploaded and put a link up for it somewhere in this thread, but here it is again. There are still some good tunes in there. Gets the blood pumping.

I need to say this again.

That boxart.

Is awesome.

Also, I was quite unimpressed with the music on the first game, so a change is welcome in my opinion.

The original has great music.

So, has anyone heard this has apparently been delayed until June 27th, and Metroid has been pushed back as well?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=393450

Just for North America. Europe still gets it May 7th. The European official site has also already gone up. You can read all about the backstory of Isa and Kachi in glorious English.

Yeah, apparently Nintendo has confirmed that Sin and Punishment 2 is delayed to June 27, and Metroid Other M is pushed back to August 31.

Pretty bummed out about both delays, S&P2 would have originally released just two days after my birthday.

It is confirmed. They say the Metroid game is for quality reasons, but give no excuse to the delay of S&P. I guess I would also like the game to be released at the most sales number beneficial point in time, but man is this wait getting unnecessarily long.

Anyone else think the reason for the delays is that they didn't have anything "huge" for the Q3 of this year? Before this delay we knew pretty much knew of nothing pass June that was coming out

I agree with MadMage... there shouldn't be ANY reason to delay S&P any further. I assume its to maximize Super Mario Galaxy 2 sales ... you know, don't want to have a third party title slicing into our pet projects profits etc etc.

I can wait for Metroid if it really is for quality reasons ... but August 31 sucks... I was hoping to have it before going back to school in the fall =/ At least I'll have S&P to play over the summer.

Do you really think anyone will pass up on Mario Galaxy 2 for S&P? Also, S&P is being published by Nintendo, so it's not really competing with Mario.

Yeah, the three weeks is rather arbitrary, but big game publishers often look at in-depth analysis of game sales from month to month in order to maximize sales.

Or maybe with metriod being pushed back they felt the gap between releases over the summer would be too big

Why would they release Mario and S&P on top of each other? Nintendo wants to at least give S&P a chance.

The fact that Metroid was delayed should not have even been a surprise to anyone.

I'm mostly just disappointed about Metroid because I'll have the summer off for some serious gaming. I'll still have S&P, but would have welcomed another great title.

Oh, and I'm passing up Galaxy 2 for Punishment 2. Honestly, I thought Galaxy was really annoying and boring though so I can't really be counted (wasn't going to buy it anyway). There are two other people I regularly game with who are/were passing up Galaxy for S&P2 (sure it isn't a lot but it's the point that matters). Now they're both getting both.

I just miss the days when I didn't actually NEED money for anything and whatever I got I could save up to spend on videogames. It's been a long time since I've bought a game new at full price. I can't even remember how long ago. Maybe it was when Brawl came out. At $50 a pop, the cost of these things adds up pretty quickly...

So few games hold their value though. Anymore you only need to wait a couple of months for new games to hit the $20 mark. Nintendo-published games are different of course, and if I want to support a game I'll buy it new (but there are so few big budget games worth supporting any more)

There's a video up on the European site in the challenge section. It shows stage 1, along with the cutscenes (English dub), but I can't seem to get it to load past the half way point. Anyone else have any success? There's an annoying beep now when your boss timer is running low.

Official European Site

Also, in the Iwata Asks official translation there's a note about the high scores for the localized version only including scores from North America and Europe.

http://us.wii.com/iwata_asks/sinandpuni ... _page6.jsp

It's on the last page.

I've seen several sites link to that interview recently, but I'd swear I read it months ago. What gives?

PAL release has leaked. Think I'll check it out and see what's changed.

EDIT

Played through it on easy with the English dub.

There wasn't a whole lot changed. Certain enemy attacks that were just for show before can hit and stun you now, maybe even damage you, I'm not entirely sure. The missiles that one ship fires at the ground near the start of stage 1 actually hurt me I think, as well as the two eels that get blown to bits by the Brinstone in stage 2.

Most bosses spew out around a dozen bronze coins when you beat them now. Extra points I guess.

Stage 4 had the most changes. Before the giant toad boss were the two shrines on wheels that you would normally see at the end of the stage. They're replaced by two stationary ones that you just run by.

The green boogers on stage 5 don't give you gold coins for killing them anymore. Not sure where the points are going to come from on this stage without them. Oh, and there was no final race through a mine field at the end, just a bunch of towers to blow up. Could just be an easy difficulty thing though.

Aside from those few changes (that I can remember) everything else is pretty much cosmetic. Oh, and Cock Keeper is out. It's Phoenix Keeper now.

There might be more changes on the other difficulties, in fact I'm not sure some of the things I thought were changed are actually just the way it's always been on easy difficulty.

The dub is decent. One line from the original makes an appearance before the sword fight in stage 3. I laughed. Ending song is untouched, you get subtitles.

How would you rate these changes? Or are they mostly insignificant (apart from the drastic renaming of Cock Keeper)?

Also, I think the male lead sounds a little deep and manly for a kid, but for the most part the English voice work is unoffensive.

Honestly, they hardly changed anything. If you already have the Japanese version and don't feel like buying the game again I wouldn't say you're missing anything.

I was hoping they would cut down some of the boss timers, but I don't think they touched any of them.

I don't. Didn't want to hack my Wii. Just wanted to make sure they didn't mess things ups. I don't trust Nintendo at all any more

It is. I only played Easy mode once but that's the main difference I remember.

Me too. I was also hoping the stage 6 battleship would be tightened up.

So how much fun have you had with doing score attacks on individual stages? I'm contemplating if I want to actually buy a Wii here. Compared to say if I got an X360 or fuck - even just playing some older CAVE or RAIZING game on MAME.

According to this developer interview video, Treasure continued to work on the game after the original Japanese release. They specifically mention only graphical tweaks, saying "The visuals are more sophisticated and the effects are more dynamic." They also mentioned that you could get score bonuses for unexpected things such as only attacking a boss' legs, which I thought was sort of interesting (though this isn't necessarily related to only the western release; it was mentioned elsewhere).

Just order it from the website. That's how you'll get the poster as well. You would have to pay shipping though.
